Social Commitment

The Rustom Irani Foundation was established in 1998 in the memory of Late Mr. Rustom S. Irani, with the objective of making education a priority.
The Foundation established their first School - The Rustomjee International School - in Mumbai, in 1999. A premier English medium School, it strives to make learning enjoyable through innovative approaches to education.

At Rustomjee the aim is to ignite the spirit, liberate the creativity and let the pattern emerge in different forms and shapes in each individual child. Rustomites are groomed to take on their role as the future architects of the nation.

At the school they are taught to apply their mind, body and soul towards achieving their goals. Rustomites are trained to understand that "Success is not in never falling but in rising after every fall".

The foundation has further initiated many programs to spread education:

Shiksha - Shiksha educates children who come from economically backward classes and work as domestic help, thus enabling them to become self-reliant and independent. In the program, boys and girls are given vocational training in the field of plumbing, carpentry, sewing, cooking etc. They are taught to read and write and are also trained to understand the importance of hygiene. They are taught to use banks, post office and police stations as well.

Sensitive Saturday Program – This program aims at installing human values in each and every Rustomite. Every Saturday, students from the secondary standards visit old homes, orphanages, cancer patients association and other such institutes. They interact with the inhabitants and spend quality time, either reading out a book to them or just talking to them.

Enhancement of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Schools - The Foundation encourages Rustomites to interact with the students from the state run BMC schools. They are encouraged to informally help them with their studies. They have also organized donation drives for these schools.

A window for the Under Privileged Children - The Foundation involves underprivileged children in various activities of the school. For instance, the children from the near by slums are made to participate in the school's annual day function, thus providing a platform for these children to showcase their talents.

Unsung Heroes... No Longer! – The foundation organizes Awards for Excellence in Education to acknowledge, recognize and reward meritorious teachers. It also serves as a platform for sharing of resources and ideas to raise the standards of education.

Recently, Mr. Boman Irani, CMD of Rustomjee builders was lauded by the organization for his contributions.
